A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a pub safe containing thousands of pounds was stolen.

Three masked burglars wearing balaclavas broke into the Buck House Hotel in Bangor-on-Dee last Sunday, February 19, at about midnight.

The safe contained the entire weekend takings, believed to be between £2,500 and £3,000, following the Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse February meeting.

Police arrested a 32-year-old man from Wrexham in connection with the incident. He has been released on police bail “pending enquiries”.

Det Insp Mark Hughes said: “I’d like to thank the public for their assistance as we investigate a number of recent burglaries and robberies in the area.

“I’d encourage people to continue to pass on any information which may assist our investigations, either by calling police 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
