A KITCHEN assistant at a Whitchurch care home received a VIP guest when she chalked up two decades of service.

Maureen Haycocks was greeted by town mayor Councillor Mike McDonald at Edgeley House  after she completed 20 years at the home.

Jenny Clarke, an administrator at the home, said staff were delighted to see Maureen celebrate her milestone at Edgeley House, in Edgeley Road, with the mayor.

She said: “It’s great that Maureen has been here for so long.

“It’s good for the residents and it’s good for the staff, too, as it shows someone can work here for 20 years.

“Maureen’s a kitchen assistant – she’s always got a smile on her face. She’s a valued member of staff and we wanted to give her the recognition for all her hard work and dedication.”

Cllr McDonald added he was delighted to be able to present the award for Maureen and praised her loyal service to the home.
