THE HOLLIES Tennis Club in Tarporley Road,  Whitchurch, is looking forward to the summer season.

As the weather has been relatively good this winter, many members have never put their rackets away, playing  social tennis all winter on the all- weather floodlit courts and taking advantage of the winter coaching plan offered by inspire2coach.

Others have been busy installing a new kitchen in the pavilion.

With spring around the corner, practice sessions start on March 13 – men on Sundays at 9.30am and Tuesdays at  7pm; ladies on Mondays and Thursdays at 7pm. All members of any standard are welcome. Club nights on a Wednesdays will start in April at 7pm.

Coaching for adults and children will continue on Saturdays  at 2pm, with other small focus groups on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

For more information regarding coaching, contact Dan Morgan on 07912 672778 or dan@inspire2coach. co.uk.

Coaching is available only for club members. For membership information, contact Sandra Logan on 01948 661183 or westmoresec@aol.com

Members are reminded  the annual dinner will be on Friday, March 17 at The Bickerton Poacher. A tidy-up morning and spring cleaning  will be held on Saturday, April 8, and an adult mixed tournament is scheduled for Sunday,  April 9 at 2pm.

Various tournaments will be held during the year, including the chairman’s monthly tournament, a veterans’ tournament and the annual club tournament, with the finals on September 17. All this comes on top of league matches in the Shropshire and Chester area for men’s, ladies’ and mixed teams.

“There is always something going on at the Hollies Tennis Club,” said press secretary Yvonne Shrimplin. “Drop by, have a go and join in the fun.”
