WHITCHURCH Alport have signed talented teenage midfielder Kieran Smith.

Smith, who recently turned 18, is another promising youngster who has captained his teams throughout youth football, and has just progressed from the Crewe Alexandra scholarship scheme.

He is a versatile player who has tremendous energy levels and great composure to impress the management team.

Smith is the latest teenager to join the journey at Yockings Park with youthful players already given their chance by the joint management team of Luke Goddard and Carl Everall.

Joe Minshall, Ryan Thomas, Nick Marley, Dean Twigg, Keaton Webster and Luke Walley are all examples of players given the opportunity to progress at Alport.

The club are hopeful Smith can follow the same path as they continue to employ a youthful policy with the team encouraged to play the right way and build a young, energetic and exciting squad for 2017/18 that will make the Red Army proud.

Smith is looking forward to being a part of Alport.

“I am delighted to sign for Alport. Over the past two years I have been coached by Carl Everall in both football and education, which were both a success.

“At the end of the two years he asked if I would like to attend pre-season at Whitchurch and I jumped at the chance.

“The enthusiasm which surrounded the club as well as the motivation to succeed and the togetherness among the players, staff and fans was certainly something I wanted to be part of.

“Pre-season training has been quality and challenging so far and I have seen first-hand the quality and the belief among the squad.

“After working hard in training, I was extremely happy to be selected in the squad which travelled to Airbus and I played the second half at right back and centre back. Although it took me time to adjust, I settled down and enjoyed the game time.

“My aim for the season is to keep working hard, listening and learning and to play my part in bringing huge success to Whitchurch Alport this season and in the future.”
