WIN: Scott Ruscoe and Craig Harrison with the silverware

THE New Saints coasted to their fourth successive league title on Saturday evening after a comfortable 3-0 victory over second placed Bala Town.

Craig Harrison’s side maintained their imperious league form as they seek to attain the unprecedented feat of claiming a domestic treble while remaining unbeaten for an entire season.

Having secured the Word Cup and sewn up the league title, the Saints now await their semi-final Welsh Cup game with Airbus UK next month.

Saints match winner Matty Williams has called for the league to become more competitive after the Saints moved 20 points clear and clinched the title with their victory over Bala.

The former Manchester United man grabbed two in the game and speaking after the title celebrations, said he would like to see more teams challenging the Saints at the top.

He said: “It is a great achievement to win the league and it is no mean feat to win four titles on the bounce.

“Every title is special, but whether part-time or full-time I think the league needs to become more competitive and it would be nice to see a few more sides challenging us.”

Williams also labelled the squad the best he has played with at TNS.

He said: “Like-for-like this is the best squad I have been a part of here, one goes out and another comes in.

“The ability is there for all to see.”

Boss Craig Harrison praised his team’s display and described the season as “his best achievement” in the game a, but insists the pressure is still on.

He said: “From start to finish we passed well, created chances and the attitude and desire to get the ball back was great.

“It is a brilliant achievement and without doubt my best achievement in the game.

“Pressure creeps in still as the unbeaten run is still on and the players will stay focused to keep that going.

“But the lads were brilliant today, and were deserved champions.”
