KEN BYERS of Hengoed Park, passed away at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on 19th January 2010, aged 74 years. Ken leaves his daughter Kim, sister Eileen, brother-in-law Jim and nephews Steven, Mark and Darren. He was a well known local sporting personality in the fields of Rugby League, Rugby Union, cricket, golf and football and was a former local publican and fundraiser at the Orthopaedic Hospital. The funeral service at Emstrey Crematorium was conducted by Rev. Adrian Bailey. Family mourners were his daughter Kim, sister Eileen, brother-in-law Jim and nephews Steven and Mark and also Gill, Ian and Stuart. There were many other relatives, friends, ex work colleagues and sporting world representatives in attendance too numerous to mention. Thanks: Kim, Ian and family would like to thank all those who attended the funeral and who sent cards. A big thank you to Stuart Lister for his very moving tribute and for all the donations received for the Derwen Group Riding for the Disabled.
