John
Humphreys - Of King Street, Oswestry died at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on January 27th 2011 aged 70 years. John worked for British Rail for 43 years. He was a founder member and Trustee of the Cambrian Railway Society (CRS) in Oswestry and also Autocoach Trailer 163.
The funeral service at St Oswald's Parish Church was conducted by Rev John Chesworth, and the organist was Mrs Veronica Donkin, and was followed by burial at Oswestry Cemetery.
Mourners were Helena and Stuart (sister and brother-in-law) sisters Betty and Margaret (unable to attend), David, Phil, Yvonne, Nicki, Andy, Paul, Dennis, Michelle and Kirk also rep their families, Catherine, Anthony, Sarah, John, Victoria and Alex (nieces and nephews). Cousins Sheila, Ruby, John Humphreys rep Ena and George Roberts, Frank, Sheila and Jim, Stuart Huxley rep Mike, Carol, Nancy, Frank and Josie rep Gladys Powell, Gareth and Tegwen Jones and many friends from the CRS and 163 Group including Peter Green, Doug Lloyd, Lionel Price, Mr & Mrs D Furber rep Paul and Dawn, Wilfred Jones, Noel Elstub, Paul Mottram rep C&S Mottram, Andrew Rudd, David Morris, Emlyn Evans rep Julie, Jayne and Margaret Hughes, K N Jones, rep Mrs A Jones, Glynn Swift rep Russell Swift, K Cowan, Philip Bradley, Ray Nickless, Mr & Mrs Tony Rowe, David Owen, John Allman, Dave Smith rep Glenys and family, J B Rowe rep N Davies (Chairman CHR), David Lawson, Bob rep Julie, Stuart (Taunton) and brother, Rob Williams (Chairman CRS), Allan Pugh (Chairman Autocoach 163) rep Tracy, Ken Champbell (Ex B.R. Oswestry and Shrewsbury) David Edmundson rep all Train Crew, Salop, Bill Parton (former Train Crew Manager) rep N Williams, C Willis.
Flowers were sent by family members and the Lads of Autocoach 163. Bearers were Stuart Evans, David and Philip Powell, Dennis Roberts.
THANKS. John's family thank everyone for their kindness and sympathy at this time, for cards, messages and donations received, to Rev John Chesworth for the lovely service and to Mr Trevor Morris of Edmund Rowlands & Son, Chirk for his care and support with the funeral arrangements. and to staff at the Pedigree. Special thanks to all John's friends at CRS and Autocoach 163 for their help especially Dave Smith, their attendance at his funeral and many tributes received including that from Allan Pugh (Chairman) and Trustees of Autocoach 163 and that given by Rob Williams Chairman of CRS for which £350 was received in John's memory.
