Students from Whitchurch have been given a taste of an entrepreneurial future at a recent event.
Sir John Talbot’s Young Enterprise group, iCan, attended the Shropshire Young Enterprise Awards Evening at the Telford Centre Hotel on Thursday evening.
The event celebrated the achievement of all 22 Young Enterprise groups from the area with 29 awards for various criteria and was attended by more than 200 students, teachers, business professionals and sponsors.
ICan won the first award of the night the ‘Green Award’ for the most sustainable and eco-friendly product in recognition of their up cycled Tin can products.
The award was presented and sponsored by Co-op. They were also shortlisted for the ‘Social Enterprise’ Award.
Mark Richards, who runs the group, also won an award as ‘Best Centre Lead’ in Shropshire, sponsored and presented by Telford and Wrekin Council, and was nominated by the students.
He said: "Well done to the group for all their hard work this year learning about the world of business and developing skills which will prepare students for the future world of work."
