West Midlands Regional League
Premier Division
Wem Town 1
Smethwick Rangers 4
Wem Town are firmly in the bottom three of the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division after they were thrashed by Smethwick Rangers at home on Saturday.
It means the Bowensfield men are still second-from-bottom, one above Cradley Town, after a Colin Smith hat-trick fired the Black Country side to all three points.
Harvey Walker grabbed the other goal for the visitors.
Wem are now facing being marooned in a relegation battle after they are now four points behind 15th-placed Bilston Town and would require a string of results to jump into mid-table.
They will hope to bounce back this weekend as they make the trip to face Worcester Raiders.
Meanwhile, Shifnal Town made it a perfect 10 as they maintained their 100 per cent start at the top of the Premier Division.
They thrashed Wolverhampton Sporting Community 5-1 at home.
Bewdley Town are now six points behind after losing 3-2 at Dudley Town.

Chester DFA Cup
First round
Malpas 7
Chester Nomads Res 1
Malpas kicked off a fresh Chester DFA Cup campaign with a huge win over Chester Nomads Reserves at Oxhays on Saturday.
The tie was all-but-over by half-time as the Red and Blacks went into the break leading 4-1 before adding a further three goals in the second half to proceed into the second road.
This cup victory – and the manner of how it was sealed – will give Malpas plenty of positives and will help heal the wounds of crashing out of the Cheshire Amateur Cup last weekend.
The goals were largely shared between Lee Parry and Josh Malcolmson as the pair grabbed a hat-trick each, and the latter picked up the star man award.
Oliver Hailes picked up the other goal in a huge win for Malpas.
The Wrexham Road side will be looking to kick-start their league form on Saturday when they host league leaders Winstanley Warriors at Oxhays on Saturday, with plenty to ponder following their last two outings.
A win for Malpas could boost their league standing and help start a run of victories that are desperately needed.
Kick-off is 2pm.
