A WHITCHURCH woman who was put into a coma after getting kicked by a horse has regained consciousness.
Sharon Quigley, known as Shaz to her friends, was involved in an accident at a show jumping competition near Winsford in Cheshire earlier this year.
Mrs Quigley, who runs show horse business Q Sport Horses at Alkington with her husband David, was kicked in the head by one of her own animals.
She was taken to Stoke Hospital to recover, something Mr Quigley described as "a waiting game".
But in the weeks since her accident, Mrs Quigley has made incredible progress, emerging from her coma and taking her first steps.
Mr Quigley said he was humbled by the support his wife had received so far.
"Shaz has continued to get stronger, walking 15 to 20 steps each day and is conscious most of the time although very tired.
"We are waiting for a bed in a rehabilitation ward in Stoke Hospital, where Shaz can continue to recover.
"I’m delighted to say that she is out of immediate life danger and while we are all hopeful of a full recovery it clearly remains unknown at this stage, it’s just too early to say.
"Each week there are positive steps forward which is the main thing and once again Ella and I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and love.
"You have all been incredible and it’s so humbling to have this support."
