A HISTORIC aircraft based near Wem has taken part in a historic get-together of Second World War veterans.
An Avro Anson took off from Sleap Airfield on Sunday, September 19, to visit Wolverhampton's Halfpenny Green Airport for 'Project Propeller'.
Project Propeller is an annual reunion for Second World War aircrew held at airfield locations throughout the UK, this year held at Wolverhampton.
At the airfield, visitors were treated to a street-party lunch and entertained by live, 1940s-style musical entertainment.
For this year's event, the veterans were also treated to a visit by the Avro Anson from Sleap, much to the delights of airfield manager Brian Rawlings.
He said: "It was humbling meeting these fantastic Second World War aircrew and hearing some of their experiences and stories.
"We were also fortunate to be visited by the Avro Anson and at the end of the day by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire.
"Thanks to all the airport staff and many volunteers who assisted the Project Propeller team in making this such a great day."
