THE Whitchurch Walkers will be heading on a seven-miler in Llangollen to kick-off the new year.
The walking group will be going on for their first walk of 2022 on January 9, as the seven-mile walk will take place in the Llangollen area and will be led by Malcolm Monie.
The meeting place will be Sherry Mill Hill car park, in Whitchurch, at 10am, and attendees will then travel to the start of the walk at Pengwern.
Those going have been reminded to bring a packed lunch, wear suitable clothing, and appropriate footwear; organisers believe walking poles might be useful.
The walk will reach the top of Y Foel which is 522m high.
There will be a lunch stop at this point and people will be able to enjoy the 360-degree view and see Dinas Bran, Trefor Rocks, Ponderosa, Llantysilio Mountain, Vivod Mountain, Glyn Ceiriog, Foel Rhiwlas, right round to the Peckforton Hills.
The return root will largely follow the North Berwyn Way and there will be after-walk refreshments at The Old Mill in Llangollen.
