ONE of the strongest bonds in non-league football is that between the fans and the players, and that was certainly proved after Whitchurch Alport's agonising FA Vase defeat on Saturday.
The Reds missed out on moving one step closer to Wembley after defeat to Newport Pagnell Town in the FA Vase quarter finals, the end of an incredible journey for the Yockings Park club.
A capacity crowd squeezed into the ground to cheer their heroes on, and hope nearly became reality as the Reds got their noses in front.
But it was not to be for them as their visitors struck back twice to book a semi-final spot.
However, as a our pictures show, the Yockings Park faithful were ready to make sure the players had plenty of support after 90 minutes of rollercoaster action.
