A NEW equestrian competition will come to a popular location on the Shropshire border later this year.
Bolesworth, a castle estate near Tattenhall, has launched the Bolesworth CDI3* International Dressage event which will take place between June 24 and 26.
After what will be a three-year break from dressage, which traditionally has run alongside the international show jumping, the venue will be dedicated to the sport with three arenas running across three days of competition at both national and international level.
The new dressage international will play host to a wide variety of classes from grassroots British Dressage classes, starting at prelim level, right through to CDI3* grand prix level.
Also, for the very first time, para dressage will be included in the schedule. In addition to this the best retrained racehorse in each of the national sections will be awarded a special prize donated by ROR.
Bolesworth managing director, Nina Barbour, said: “We were so disappointed not to have been able to run dressage here last year due to issues with the calendar, but are delighted to be welcoming the dressage world back to Bolesworth for what promises to be a huge celebration of the sport at every level, and a chance for riders of every level to immerse themselves in the full Bolesworth experience.”
Spectators can expect a line-up of world class horses and riders, and enjoy watching the sport at its very best against the stunning backdrop of Bolesworth Castle.
There will be a shopping village full of the finest equestrian brands, together with a range of food and drink outlets with plenty of ringside undercover seating.

CEO of British Dressage, Jason Brautigam, said: “After the disruption caused by the pandemic over the last two years, we are delighted to see dressage return to Bolesworth, with international competition running alongside national classes for the first time.
"There are some fantastic opportunities for riders across the whole of the spectrum, including our Under 21s and Para athletes, so I am sure this will be warmly welcomed and well supported by British Dressage members.
"Bolesworth is a special venue, providing top class facilities and a true international atmosphere, which creates a unique experience for competitors and spectators alike.
"We are really looking forward to seeing three days of spectacular dressage action in the heart of Cheshire this June.”
