THE days are passing quickly enough and May will soon be a distant memory.

With each month claimed by history the nightmare of the past two and half years becomes more distant.

However it is important we never forget the lessons of the pandemic.

Of course, there are things the normal average person on the street can do to ensure the world is a better place while the grander scheme has to be entrusted to scientists, doctors and politicians.

All we can do is our own small part in making the world a better place and, failing that, at least not leave it worse than we found it.

Involving ourselves in our communities or just appreciating it and encouraging others to do the same is the last we can do.

We live in a rather special part of the world - a place where our children are largely free to grow up safely and where our pensioners have the respect and peace to enjoy their autumn years.

This should be celebrated and certainly our peaceful communities should be championed rather than seen as a negative of rural living.

The one thing we must also ensure we do is to have no regrets.

Even then we can all agree that the one great thing about regret is that it is never too late and that is something that can give us all heart and hope for the future.
