A WHITCHURCH neighbourhood held a street party to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Egerton Road was closed on Friday, June 3 as the neighbourhood held a street party to celebrate the Queen's 70-years on the throne.
The neighbourhood had drinks, a picnic and sung the national anthem.
Bev Allman, who lives in Egerton Road, was pleased with how the event had gone.
She added: "We decided that when it came to the Platinum Jubilee, I applied for the road to be closed, sent leaflets up and down the street inviting everybody.
"And lots of families came out, three generations of families, it was a lovely family atmosphere."
Bev added: "On the Friday, we had the road closed from 1pm until 5pm and had a very big street party.
"We did lots of old fashioned games in the street, egg and spoon, throwing the football up and down the road and lots of music and dancing.
"Everybody thoroughly enjoyed it and said how great it was to get together again."
Bev said it was the first big get together the street had had for a long time.
She added: "A lot of the families who lived down there and had invited their older parents, grandparents and great-grandparents to come, it was the first time a lot had been been out since lockdown.
"We did the national anthem, everybody joined in songs, dancing and all the children playing down the road, it was a really lovely atmosphere.
"Been a long time coming."
