A WHITCHURCH business has announced it is using a new app which is credited with helping local businesses in the high street.
Lucy Young is the co-owner of Homefolk, a home goods store in High Street which she runs wither her mother, Marie and they have been using the app Super-Saver.
The Super-Saver app is a mobile app which encourages people to support local businesses and it is free to use and it has loyalty point systems added.
Lucy praised the app for allowing her business to reward loyal customers.
She said: "The community support for our businesses these last few years has been amazing.
"By introducing a smart loyalty programme like the Super-Saver app, it allows us to reward our customers and say thank you for the continued support."
Lucy said it was vital to support the high street in Whitchurch.
Homefolk, High Street, Whitchurch.
She added: "It's so important to support our high streets, and Whitchurch has so many great independent shops and businesses that make it a unique and great place to visit.
"Local businesses are the backbone of our economy and communities.
"When you buy locally, the shop and business owners you buy from will then put their money back into your community by spending locally and eating out in local pubs and restaurants, continuing to help the the community to thrive."
The app was founded by Jason Armstrong.
Jason said he hopes to get people to shop locally and was inspired by companies like Costa Coffee when creating the app.
The founder of Super Saver said he believed the app would have a positive impact in Whitchurch.
He explained: "The impact on it is, it is a very good market town where there are a lot of people wanting to shop locally.
"The impact would be younger generations shopping in the high street really.
"Bringing in some younger generations and making it a more digital high street."
He said he had a positive response from Whitchurch businesses.
He added: "Very good, I mean I have got 23 businesses in Whitchurch now.
"Businesses are sharing the app with their customers and people are collecting loyalty points and people are now starting to use the offers.
"All the businesses have been really responsive and it is really positive.
"Obviously there are some who are not on the app because they would like to see how it works but that will come with time."
