A MOTORIST travelling at more than 100mph near Whitchurch has been clocked by police during a crackdown.

Officers from North Shropshire confirmed via Twitter that they had been taking part in an operation aimed at motoring offences on Monday when they clocked the motorist travelling at 113mph on the A41.

The crackdown involved officers from Wem, Whitchurch and Market Drayton Safer Neighbourhood Teams, Shropshire Council and the DVSA.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said more operations will take place in the future.

They added: "This morning officers from Wem, Whitchurch and Market Drayton Safer Neighbourhood Teams and our road safety team have held a multi-agency traffic operation on the A41 Prees Heath alongside colleagues from Shropshire Council and the DVSA.

"As a result of this one vehicle was prohibited for construction and use offences.

"Five traffic offence reports were issued for a variety of offences and one vehicle was seized for no tax.

"There were also 24 vehicles caught speeding with the highest recorded speed being 113mph.

"All drivers will be reported for the offences and dealt with accordingly.

"We take road safety extreme seriously and will continue to complete further operations in the future."
