WELSH Water has announced it will be investing over £2.3 million to improve the wastewater network and treatment facilities in Malpas.
The project will involve the company laying over two kilometres of pipes from No Man's Heath in Warwickshire to Malpas.
The work will start on Monday, July 25 and is expected to be completed in the New Year.
Angela Meadows, a project manager at Welsh Water said the company will be reinvesting profits for the benefit of customers.
She added: "Our investment in No Man’s Heath and Malpas reflects our commitment to reinvest profits directly for the benefit of our customers to provide them with a wastewater system that they can trust in as well as protecting the local environment.
"The work will be carried out in three phases.
"The first phase will see us lay just over two kilometres of new pipes in fields from No Man’s Heath to Malpas.
"The second and third phases will see us upgrading Malpas wastewater treatment works and modifying No Man’s Heath wastewater to a pumping station."
Angela added the work would not affect customers water service.
She said: "Our investment in our assets in the area will help us clean and treat the wastewater to a high standard to ensure that when we return the water to the environment it is of the highest quality.
"As a company we are investing in our assets to protect the environment, but we would also like to encourage customers to help us protect the environment by helping to keep our wastewater network clear by not flushing down the toilet anything that they should not such as wipes, sanitary items, cotton buds and nappies.
"This work will not affect our customer’s wastewater service and as the work is carried out on our sites and in fields customers may not see us working in the area but may notice our construction traffic coming and going from site.
"We would like to thank customers for bearing with us while we carry out this essential work.
"We know we sometimes cause disruption in the communities we are working in, and we always like to give back to the area.
"Welsh Water has a community fund to boost fundraising efforts up to £1,000 for good causes.
