A PRIMARY school near Whitchurch held a careers fair as part of an ongoing project to develop real life skills and knowledge.
Year six pupils from Whixall Church of England Primary School in Brownsbrook held the event on Thursday, July 14 and the pupils prepared questions.
Teacher, Michael Hares, said the pupils were joined by representatives from local businesses and public sector employers.
He added: "The children were joined by several different representatives from local businesses including the RAF from Shawbury, a representative from Leonard Brothers vets, electricians, mechanics and members of companies such as Balfour Beatty.
"Throughout the morning, children spent 10 minutes with each speaker, finding out what their jobs involved, what training was required and what the most enjoyable parts were.
"Julie Barnes and I wanted to ensure that before secondary school, the children had experience of finding more out about the real world.
"We wanted to ensure that the children had the chance to speak with people they are less familiar with.
"We realise that with them moving to secondary school, such communication skills will be vital to develop.
"The morning also gave the chance to strengthen links between pupils from our two village schools.
"By inviting visitors in, we wanted to open the children to the possibilities of what they could do in the future and to recognise the different routes that they may take in future years.
"Our thanks must go to all those that supported us."
