A BOWLS championship final described as the "equivalent of the FA Cup final between Liverpool and Manchester City", is to be held in Wem next month.
Wem United Services Club is hosting the final of the BCGBA Senior County Championship between Shropshire and Yorkshire on Sunday, September 4 in the club in Leek Street.
Shropshire beat Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria and a spokesperson for the club said it will be a prestigious event with a raffle.
They added: "On September 4 at 2pm Wem USC bowling section are hosting the final of the BCGBA Senior County Championship between Shropshire and Yorkshire.
"Veteran Wem bowler Derek Wright said this is the equivalent of the FA Cup Final between Liverpool and Manchester City.
"For this prestigious event the club bar will be open and there will be food available.
"Shropshire have already beaten Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria on their way to the final so it will be an opportunity to see some of the finest crown green bowlers in the country in action.
"Entry fee to the club in Leek Street in Wem will be £2 and a raffle tickets will be on sale."
