Crowds turned out for a festival celebrating Whitchurch's beloved waterways, as it returned for the first time since 2019.

The Whitchurch Waterway Trust has thanked people for support as the Whitchurch Waterway Festival was held on the local stretch of the Llangollen Canal on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4 and there were plenty of owners of narrowboats who were selling different items including canal arts and crafts.

A team of volunteers put on free boat trips over the weekend for visitors and there were many competitions.

The proceeds raised will go to the Whitchurch Waterway Trust and chairman of the Whitchurch Waterways Trust, Mark Lacey thanked people for the support the trust received.

He said: "I would like to thank everyone associated with the Trust and other groups who have helped us to re-launch the festival, especially Whitchurch Town Council, Whitchurch Business Group and We Are Whitchurch.

"A big thank you everyone who came out to support the event."
