A PLAY about a little shop in a little town and 'larger than life' women who pass through it from 1919 to the present day will be performed in Whitchurch.
'Miss Nobodies' is being performed in in Whitchurch Rugby Club in Edgeley Road on Wednesday, September 28 and is an Arts Alive event.
The performers Ruth Cockburn and Keith Carter will mix storytelling with sketches, songs and poetry.
They added: "A funny, uplifting play about a little shop in a little town and the larger than life women that pass through it from 1919 to the present day is coming to Whitchurch as part of Blackberry Fair's Sugar Fiddle on the Fringe events.
"Miss Nobodies' is taking place at the town's Rugby and Hockey Club at 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 28 and is an Inn Crowd/Arts Alive event.
"Ruth Cockburn and Keith Carter mix storytelling with sketches, songs and poetry to take us through the history of the last 100 years in the shop in a Lancashire town and the lives of the women of each decade.
Miss Nobodies was inspired by outreach done online and in the community of Great Harwood alongside research into local history and prominent figures in Lancashire.
"One such person is Ethel Carnie Holdsworth.
"A writer that worked in the mills in the early part of the last century, she is sited as the first working class, female novelist in the UK.
"Her poetry is used throughout the play to punctuate the story."
