A VACANT Wem hotel has been put back up for sale, having previously been up for auction earlier this year.
The auction for the White Horse Hotel will be taking place on Monday, October 17 at 6.30pm in Stoke and the guide price for the property is £75,000.
The Grade II-listed building has sat empty for more than a decade and people who have entered the building have spoken about its poor state.
A statement from estate agents Butters John Bee said potential bidders will be able to do it online.
In the statement, they added: "The building is for sale by public auction on Monday, October 17 2022 at 6.30pm in the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Festival Park in Stoke-on-Trent.
"You will be able to bid online. It is a Grade II listed inn situated on the High Street in Wem,
"More recently the building was used as a hotel but following a period in inactivity the property now requires refurbishment.
"It may suit a range of other uses. It has not been inspected by the auctioneers."
The building had been sold to a buyer in June earlier this year in an auction before going up for sale again.
In January, this year the Wem Civic Society voiced its concern over the state of the future of the White Horse Hotel and other listed buildings in the town.
Oliver Richardson, from the group said: "Concerns for two listed buildings, the White Horse and the Morgan Library, stood out.
"The society has questioned the future of these properties on numerous occasions.
"The White Horse offers a potential income stream with the upper floors let as apartments while offering community facilities below."
People who will not be able to attend the auction in person will be able to bid through other means including by proxy.
In a statement, the estate agents added: "Interested in this lot but can't attend the auction?
"You can bid by internet, telephone or by proxy by pre-registering with our auction department on 0800 090 2200 or email auction@bjbmail.com"
