A WEM woman will be competing in the London Marathon to 'give back' to her community by raising money for a food hub in the town.
Selina Cuss will be competing in the famous event on Sunday, October 2 for the first time to raise money for Wem Store Cupboard.
Selina was motivated to to raise money for Wem Store Cupboard due to the oncoming winter and some people needing more help.
She explained: "It was something set up to help vulnerable people, elderly and people who are struggling.
"And I thought with it becoming a hard winter and obviously prices of everything going up, people might need more help than ever.
"So that is why I decided to do it and my husband and children volunteer there as well at weekends."
Selina said it is a small food bank but it is increasing and she spoke about more people struggling, especially with the cost of utility bills.

She added: "It is something we started before Covid-19 and obviously since then, there are more people who are struggling.
"So, it is only a small food bank, but it is starting to get a lot bigger.
"It was only a temporary thing to begin with, but now it is more of a permanent thing because of the way everything is going with prices going up, keeping your utility bills, people are going to struggle more than before."
Selina said she thought many families will be faced with a 'heat or eat' situation this winter.
She added: "I think it is going to be for a lot of people this winter.
"I think they are going to have to choose how they are going to spend their money which I think is really sad.
"But what do you do, do you want to be warm or do you want to be full.
"That is a horrible thing to have to choose and especially when it comes to children.
"An I think also, some people do not want to ask for help.
"I think that is the worst thing, people feel they shouldn't be asking for help even though they need the help.
"And it is trying to get out to those people, if they want help they must come forward.
"I want to just give back to my community for those that need it."
