A FUNDRAISER has been set up for a much-loved critically ill dog in Whitchurch to help him receive much-needed surgery.
Rolo is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier owned by Dailey Wojda, from Whitchurch, and has a bone disease which causes a lot of pain and nerve issues.
Rolo is currently medicated for his pain, but it is expected he will need surgery costing between £5,000 and £8,000 before his condition deteriorates at a time when his insurance has almost been used up already.
Becka Cooper is a close friend of Dailey and has been leading the fundraising for Rolo and she said her friend is worried about not having the funds to help Rolo.
"He is absolutely petrified he is not going to have the funds to fix his best friend," she said.
"We have taken it upon ourselves to give him the help that we can give him.
"Everybody in town knows Dailey and Rolo, all the kids, when he goes for walks, all shout it's the dog with the hat.
"He is a lovely dog and Dailey knows everybody in town and I think helps everybody come together."

Becka spoke glowingly about the support given by people in Whitchurch to Dailey and Rolo.
She said: "We are trying to just power up awareness, if it was a person people would be saying send him to the doctor.
"But it is a dog, people like to help.
"People have been absolutely amazing.
"We did a raffle and local businesses donated all sorts.
"It is really good to know that community spirit can come even if it is over the worst of circumstances.
Becka said the Staffie has been like a family member to her close friend.
She explained: "Rolo has not only been his best friend, he has been like a therapy dog.
"We call Rolo Dailey's soul mate because he is.
"Dailey rescued him as an underdeveloped and neglected pup, so he has had him for eight years.
"He walks for miles with him until all this happened.
"And now he is basically crate bound."
Becka added: "Rolo is like a child to Dailey.
"My 11-year-old child and her friends have been going around sticking posters on lamp posts just to raise awareness.
"We are just clutching at straws to try and do everything we can."
