A Cheshire restaurant has been named among the best places to get a Sunday lunch in the UK, according to a list by The Guardian.
The Cholmondeley Arms in Malpas was one of the 30 best listed by the newspaper.
In describing the restaurant, The Guardian wrote: "With its smartly painted gables and well-pointed brickwork the “Chum”, as it’s known, looks every inch the architectural equivalent of a respectable headteacher. So it’s no surprise to learn it was once a schoolhouse.
"Converted into a pub in the 1980s, it now continues the pedagogic tradition, serving nostalgic puddings such as rolypoly with custard, and helping customers learn about good gin – it boasts 366 varieties of that very English herbal remedy."
On its website, it states: " Our menu is quintessentially English and includes such truly flavoursome favourites as ‘Our Traditional Pub Plate to share’, ‘Devilled Kidneys on toast’ or for your main course our ‘Hand crafted Steak and Kidney pie’ perhaps followed by our Cholmondeley Mess! We source your food from Local Artisan Bakers, Farmers, Butchers and Cheesemakers. All our seafood is delivered fresh on a daily basis.”
You can book a table at The Cholmondeley Arms on its website here.
The Cholmondeley Arms is rated 4.5 on Tripadvisor and you can see its reviews via the website.
