TICKETS are now on sale for Whitchurch Little Theatre’s new show ‘The Nightingales’ at the town’s Civic Centre next month.

This funny, touching and thought-provoking play was due to go on pre-lockdown but came to an abrupt halt.

With a couple of cast changes and two and a half years later the group is finally looking forward to it getting on stage from Tuesday, November 15 until Friday, November 18.

Jenny Matthews, from Whitchurch Little Theatre, explained the plot ahead of the upcoming shows.

He said: "A motley crew of five friends gather every week in their village hall to sing, under the watchful eye of their choirmaster.

"Whatever their differences, whatever their problems at home, they happily bond over their shared love of music but the cosy dynamic shifts when newcomer Maggie arrives, stirring up tensions within this group.

"We follow their decision to enter Talentfest, a potentially life-changing route to Britain’s Got Talent, loyalties and relationships being tested, tempers fraying and lives changing – but not in the way that any of them anticipated.

"The tensions of the married couples are laid bare.

"Over time Maggie inveigles herself into the group, offering flapjacks and flattery, but her true motivations keep us guessing to the end."

The cast is Neil and Clare Ruffell, Alan Scutt, Sarah Radford, Glynn Williams and Jenny with Katie Wainwright directing.

Actor and writer William Gaminera’s script has drama, comedy and intrigue with TV credits including This Life and The Lakes.

All shows are at 7.30pm with tickets at £10 for the opening night then £12 for remaining performances.

They are available online at www.wltg.org.uk, Crafty Birds in Bredwood Arcade, Refill Your Boots in the High Street, or the Civic Centre or on 07506724572.
