A CHRISTMAS extravaganza lasting more than three weeks will be staged at a popular pub in a village near Whitchurch

The event will kick-off with the opening night at The Swan pub in Tarporley on Wednesday, November 23.

The jam-packed schedule called ‘Swanderland’ will also nclude a Santa’s grotto, wreath making workshops, The Great Tarporley Quiz, and a festive gift fair.

A luxury, heated marquee, that will be set up at The Swan, will host most of the events, and the Santa’s grotto will also feature as part of the events programme.

Alongside the timetable of events, selected World Cup 2022 football games will also be shown for those who prefer a quieter atmosphere.

Tickets are £15 per game of £75 for a season ticket to view all of the matches in the marquee.

Following the launch to local businesses, the first ‘Swanderland’ event will be a ‘12 days of Christmas’ celebration, a sit-down meal with a dozen festive foods and drinks on the menu on November 24.

A ‘locals hog roast’ event will take place on the Saturday.

The 12 days of Christmas events are priced at £30 per person and the meal is followed by dinner and dancing with live music.

The following week will see a wreath making luncheon take place in the marquee on Tuesday, November 29, (with tickets priced at £25 and including a two course lunch), with The Great Tarporley Quiz kicking off the day after.

From the week commencing Monday, December 5, ‘Swanderland’ will host the second round of The Great Tarporley Quiz, another ’12 days of Christmas’ event and a two-day Christmas gift fair, with stalls occupied by local artisan and craft businesses. Santa’s Grotto will also come to Tarporley that weekend.

Some proceeds from the luncheons will go to Save The Family, with donations also collected for entry to the local’s hog roast for charity too.

The final week of ‘Swanderland’ will include live music acts over lunch, the final of The Great Tarporley Quiz, a jazz night, and plenty of yuletide cheers. Before the event comes to a close to make way for a busy festive period at the pub, the World Cup 2022 final will be shown outdoors in the heated marquee.
