WARTIME memories will be the hot topic when Wem Civic Society meets this month.
'On the Home Front and at War, Wem’s Stories' will see those in attendance listen to the biographies of men listed on Wem's war memorial.
It will be held in Wem Town Hall on Tuesday, November 15 at 7.30pm.
Shelagh Richardson, the secretary of Wem Civic Society, said stories from the Home Front will be told.
She added: "The topic for Wem Civic Society’s next meeting resonates with November as the month of remembrance 'On the Home Front and at War, Wem’s Stories.'
"The First and Second World Wars provide the backgrounds with short biographies of some of the men listed on Wem’s war memorial.
"The battles and conditions that they endured and, which cost them their lives are also featured.
"The stories of some survivors are mentioned, including the first tank battle in the world as observed by two soldiers from Wem.
"Survival on the Home Front will cover coping with restricted food supplies and mention some foods that became swear words.
"A small information display will be available."
The talk is free for society members.
For non-members, it is £2.50.
