A woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a road traffic collision near Whitchurch yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, November 7).
At around 3.15pm, police officers received a report of a single-vehicle collision on the A539 in Hanmer, on the border between Shropshire and Wrexham borough, involving a blue Vauxhall Corsa.
The road was closed as emergency services attended, and the female driver was airlifted to hospital in Stoke.
PC Jim Bailey of the Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses. He said: “It is understood the vehicle had been travelling east along the A539, away from Penley and towards Striga Lane.
“I am urging anybody who may have been in the area around the time of the collision, and who may have dash cam footage, to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at approximately 15:05 yesterday afternoon, 07 November, to a road traffic accident in Hanmer, Whitchurch.
"We deployed an emergency ambulance and air ambulance to the scene. One patient was conveyed by helimed to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment."
