THE WHITCHURCH Rotary Club has announced there will be changes to the route for this year's Santa Sleigh tour.

The tour is a long-running rotary tradition and Father Christmas will be visiting Whitchurch and the surrounding villages from Thursday, December 1 to Tuesday, December 20.

The club announced it would be dropping Tilston and Mile Bank off the route due to new homes in Whitchurch, Malpas and Prees adding to the demands on Father Christmas' time.

A spokesman said: "We have made the difficult decision to not visit Tilston this year to enable us to visit all the new properties in the Malpas area, we are negotiating with the Malpas Co-op and hope to have the float outside that store on the morning of Saturday, December 17.

"We are dropping Mile Bank off the route that includes Alport Road etc.

"Again apologies but the new buildings on that route are straining our available time.

"Some other routes have been switched around to make the best use of our time so please, please check carefully which night we will visit you and please share this post as much as you can so as many people as possible can be made aware of the changes."
