THE Whitchurch branch of a fundraising group for an orthopaedic hospital has raised over £850 in its Christmas wreath making event.
The League of Friends of the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt (RJAH), Whitchurch branch held the event in Tilstock Village Hall to raise the money for the Orthopaedic Hospital in Gobowen.
The group of 35 ladies led by well known local flower arranging specialist, Mrs Janet Blake, were able to enjoy wreath making along with mince pies and mulled wine along with festive music.
There was a Christmas card stall selling Christmas presents and ideas and Angela Witter, chair of The League of Friends to RJAH, Whitchurch branch was pleased with how the event went.
She said: "We were thinking of new ideas to raise money and we're delighted that so many people signed up to support us.
"Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the wreaths created are beautiful, we extend sincere thanks to Janet Blake for her professional guidance ahead of the event and demonstration and leadership during the evening.
"Our committee has worked so hard collecting and delivering foliage to put together the event, a special thanks to our new members, Mrs Helen Hulme and Mrs Diana Wood for their dedication to its success."
