A WHITCHURCH woman who has become well known for lighting up Christmas has told of her delight at the joy it brings.
Sheila and Keith Chase have put the display on their home in Chester Road for the 25th year running and are using the display to raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance.
Plenty of people have visited to see the lights display and have donated money to the air ambulance and Sheila spoke of the delight the display brings to people.
Sheila said: "It is a bit of fun, lightening people and getting them ready for Christmas.
"It is for the air ambulance and any donations we get all go to it. I think we are into our 25th year and have been raising money for the air ambulance for 12 or 13 years."
Sheila spoke about how she and Keith knew people who needed to use the Midlands Air Ambulance and how it motivated them to raise money for it.
She said: "A friend of ours and their grandchildren needed to use the air ambulance.
"We have got grandchildren now and hope they never need it. But if a little bit of what we do means that it makes that helicopter available across north Shropshire for anyone who needs it then it is all to the good."
Sheila mentioned about how people from across the UK have seen the lights display on the house.
She explained: "We are very lucky that a lot of people in the town and who come from away know what we do.
"They come to visit their families for Christmas.
"Some travel from down south and Scotland.
"It brings people together and if that is what we can do and put a smile on peoples face, that is what it is all about."

It has been a monumental year for Sheila who was voted Citizen of the Year 2022 by the people of Whitchurch for her fundraising for the air ambulance.
She said: "I am absolutely blown away by it.
"We have done this for nearly 25 years and to be given that honour was so unexpected.
"I never expected it in a million years.
"Thank you to everyone who nominated me and who came to see the lights and donate.
"Happy Christmas to everyone."
