A STAFF member was left with facial injuries as a group of teenagers went on the rampage in Sainsbury's on Tuesday evening.
Police were called to the supermarket chain's Whitchurch store in London Road following reports of an assault, criminal damage and a staff member suffering facial injuries on Tuesday, February 28. Social media reports said the store was closed following the incident, although Sainsbury's has confirmed it has reopened today.
Police confirmed there were many witnesses and that Whitchurch Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNT) will be carrying out patrols in the town today.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "At around 5.20pm on Tuesday, February 28 police responded to a 999 call to attend Sainsbury supermarket in London Road in Whitchurch.

"The incident reported there were three teenagers in the store who had assaulted a member of staff, made threats towards another member of staff and caused criminal damage.
"One member of staff suffered facial injuries.
"On police arrival the suspects had left the store.
"There were a number of witnesses to the incident and the suspects' names have been given to police.
"Offences of assault, criminal damage and public order offences have been recorded.
"No arrests have been made at this time. The local Safer Neighbourhood team will be carrying out further patrols in the area."
Sainsburys confirmed the store is back open as normal to customers, confirmed the store takes safety seriously and is working closely with police.
A Sainsburys spokesperson said: "Customer and colleague safety is our highest priority.
"Police were called to our Whitchurch Bargates store yesterday evening and we’re supporting with their investigation.
"The store is now open as usual."
Whitchurch Town Council said it was shocked to hear about what happened in the supermarket and confirmed it was working with the police in the hope that nay concerns could be addressed.
Town clerk, Mike McDonald added: "We are shocked that the incident happened.
"We are working with the police to voice concerns in order for them to be addressed."
