POLICE are expected to attend Whitchurch Town Council's next monthly meeting in the wake of incidents of disorder in the town, including one in which Sainsbury's was closed early because of the actions of teens in the shop.

Inspector Claire Greenaway-Evans and PC Ben Jones from Whitchurch Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) are likely to attend the meeting which will be held in the Civic Centre in High Street on Thursday, March 16.

The police officers are expected to provide a local policing update and answer questions from residents.

Three arrests were made recently in relation to recent disorder in the town.

Members of the public will be given an opportunity to speak and voice concerns.

During the evening, Whitchurch Town Council is expected to consider support of a parliamentary motion relating to the Climate & Ecology Bill which is currently in progress, following receipt of correspondence from Zero Hour Shropshire.

Other items on the agenda include noting the formation of a task and finish group as part of plans to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III in May.

The town council will also receive brief verbal report from the chairman of the Cemetary Advisory Groups and receive notes from a meeting it held on Tuesday, March 7 and ratify recommendations in the notes.

Councillors are also expected to consider the application for a from voluntary Group We Are Whitchurch.

The public meeting will end and the town council will hold its confidential session.
