A CHESHIRE woman with family near Malpas died following an avalanche while on holiday in France, an inquest heard.
The inquest which was held in Shirehall on Thursday, April 6 heard Alison Jane Dawson died on Saturday, January 14 earlier this year in Chamonix in the French Alps.
Her body was taken back to Whitchurch.
The chief coroner for Shropshire Telford and Wrekin, John Ellery, heard that Ms Dawson was hiking with her partner and a local tourist guide.

He said: "Alison was hiking with her partner Robert Holt and a local tourist guide in the mountain range, Mont Blanc Argentiere Glacier in Chamonix.
"At around 5pm an avalanche was triggered and sadly Alison was swept away.
"Mountain rescue teams were alerted and attended.
"They discovered her body in the valley and unfortunately she was pronounced deceased.

"The cause of death was given as asphyxiation."
Ms Dawson was born in Chester and lived in Yorkshire but had family who live in No Man's Heath.
She was born on August, 29 1977.
She was 45 years old.
