SIX coins discovered in Whitchurch as part of a medieval coin horde 'is treasure,' a coroner has declared.
The inquest, which was held in Shirehall in Shrewsbury, heard the coins were discovered in Whitchurch by Barrie Taylor in July last year while he was out metal detecting.
The coins are believed to date from 1299 to 1301 during the time of Edward I who reigned as King of England from 1272 to 1307.

The Shropshire Telford and Wrekin chief coroner, John Ellery, said: "This was a report prepared by Victoria Allnatt, finds liaison officer for West Staffordshire and South West Midlands.
"This was a find from Whitchurch and found by Barrie Taylor who was out metal detecting in July last year.
"A small coin horde consisting of six medieval cons was discovered.

"The coins date from AD1299 to 1303.
"Five of the coins were produced in London and one was in Canterbury.
"This coin horde was found in three metres of one another.
"The coins are more than 10 percent silver and qualify as treasure.
"Therefore, I declare the six coins to be treasure."
