The event will take place in the Civic Centre in High Street on Saturday, May 6 when the town will be celebrating the coronation of King Charles III while also raising money for the Cat Assist Team Whitchurch (CATW).

The band Reservoir 5 will be performing and Whitchurch mayor, Councillor Andy Hall will be the event DJ.

CATW member Jodie Meredith said: "Were are absolutely ecstatic because we desperately need it.

"We are so grateful to Whitchurch Town Council and Councillor Andy Hall for arranging it and thinking about us.

OTHER NEWS:

Jodie explained that the team has been extremely busy lately.

She said: "At the moment we have had a lot of sick cats coming into our care.

"There is a particular cat called Arnie. He is nine years old and very poorly and has numerous things wrong.

"He is going to cost a lot of money and it will be a long journey for him to heal.

"Everything we are raising at the moment is going towards Arnie's vet bills."

Jodie added: "We've got another cat who has come in called Boris. He is going in for X-Rays as we suspect he was hit by a car.

"And we have an elderly cat called Gianna.

"That is just three examples of 32 cats we have in care."

Jodie said people in the town have responded to pleas for help towards Arnie's medical bills, adding: "We have had an amazing response to Arnie.

"We have had some donations come through for him which we are really grateful for. It is going to be a heavy April."
