A BRIDGE over a country lane in north Shropshire will be closed for a week next month for repairs.
Shell Brook Bridge – which carries the ‘unclassified’ road Pant Lane near Dudleston Heath over Llanyfelin Brook, close to the Wrexham/Shropshire border – is to close from Monday, June 26 to Friday, June 30 for repair work.
A Shropshire Council spokesman explained what work was needed.
They said: “The work will involve repairs to the masonry parapet and scour protection of the upstream left and right training walls, and general vegetation removal from the structure.
“To carry out the work safely it will be necessary to close the bridge 24/7 to vehicular traffic.

“The normal working hours will be between 8am and 4pm.
“When the bridge is closed, traffic will be diverted by a signed diversion route."
The diversion will take traffic via Sodylt Bank, while access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the proposed work.

The spokesperson added: “Every effort will be made to minimise any disruption.
“The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.”
