NORTH Shropshire residents will once again have the opportunity to bring their broken items back to life as the Ellesmere Repair Café reopens its doors on Saturday (July 1).

The event will take place from 1pm to 4pm at Ellesmere Town Hall, welcoming individuals with items waiting to be fixed.

One of the organisers, Mayor of Ellesmere, Anne Wignall, said: “This is the time of year when people like to sit outside, but very often we find that the garden furniture we hope to use is a bit worse for wear.

“However, if you bring the item along to the Repair Café, one of our fixperts should be able to restore it for you.”

To ensure a seamless repair experience, the organisers have recruited a dedicated team of at least 10 skilled volunteers.

These repairers possess a diverse range of expertise, including bike repairs, sewing, IT repairs, and general fixing skills like gluing and screwing.

With their collective knowledge, they are ready to tackle various items and provide their repair services free of charge.

In addition to offering free repairs, the Repair Café will provide attendees with an opportunity to indulge in delicious homemade cakes, perfectly paired with a warm cuppa.

While refreshments are complimentary, donations are always appreciated to support the ongoing efforts of the Repair Café.

Organiser Amanda Weekes said: “We are hoping our café will help prevent items going to landfill or maybe can restore someone’s quirky heirloom.

“There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere at our cafes with time to chat to people and learn from the fixperts how they go about fixing things.”
