A SHOW dedicated to promoting a flower established in Wem is back with a new home for the second year running this weekend.
Wem Town Hall will once again play host to the annual Wem Sweet Pea Show, taking place on Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 15.
Organisers from the hall and the Eckford Sweet Pea Society are excited to be bringing the show back to town for the second year in a row after the original show hosts could no longer stage it.
A spokesman for Wem Town Hall said the venue is proud to provide a location for the event.

They said: “A hugely successful partnership between Wem Town Hall and the original show creators, The Eckford Sweet Pea Society, has meant that the show has been able to continue to celebrate Wem’s local heritage which brings flower enthusiasts from far and wide to the town.
“Wem is synonymous with the sweet pea flower, thanks to horticulturist Henry Eckford who cultivated over 200 varieties while living in the town.
“The show aims to bring the community together in celebration of the beautifully delicate flower, with classes for everyone from expert growers to children and novices.
“There will also be a variety of craft, gift and food stalls and Wem Town Hall’s café will be offering delicious afternoon teas, making an excellent day out for all ages.”
The show takes place from 10am-5pm on Saturday and from 10am until 3pm on Sunday, while a presentation of trophies will be made on Saturday at 3pm.
