A STUNNING north Shropshire tourism hot spot has received a prestigious international award for the 10th year in a row.
The Shropshire Council team which runs the Mere in Ellesmere, is celebrating its latest Green Flag Award recognising the hard work and dedication of the team that keeps the space in good condition.
Severn Valley Country Park near Alveley was also presented with a Green Flag, while the Friends of Stanmore Country Park received a Community Green Flag.
Robert Macey, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture and digital, was full of praise for the team.
He said: “Sometimes it is all too easy to take for granted our beautiful Shropshire countryside, but awards such as this serve as a great reminder of the hard work and effort that goes into maintaining our country parks.
