A WHITCHURCH slimmer has seen her quality of life go from “zilch to 200 per cent” after shedding more than three stones.
Emma Blencowe, 40 from Whitchurch, has the autoimmune condition multiple sclerosis (MS) and has gone from a dress size 16 to a 10 which she says has totally changed her life.
Emma’s MS means she is left with fatigue, difficulty in walking, numbness, muscle stiffness and spasms, problems with balance and co-ordination, among others.

She said she was driven to lose weight after being asked if she was pregnant during lockdown and was soon signed up to Tina Hayward’s Whitchurch sessions.
“I saw a photograph of myself and didn’t like the way I looked,” she said.
“After speaking to my husband Jonathan and my mum who have both been a massive support – my mum offered to support me by looking after the children so that I could attend the evening meetings.
“I went along to Tina’s Slimming World group in Whitchurch.
“Tina reassured me it was easy to stick to the Slimming World Food Optimising and the meetings were fun and very supportive.”
Tina said Emma’s first session was last January and that she was ‘shocked about her weight’ when she first stepped on the scales
She added: “I am very proud of Emma and so are her fellow members.
“Emma has blossomed into a more confident lady and each week she gives plenty of support to everyone.”
Emma said she wished she had found Slimming World sooner.
She added: “I now love clothes shopping and I loved getting dressed up this year to Christmas parties knowing I’m now in a slinky size 10 after dropping three dress sizes.
“I have a much healthier lifestyle and I never want to go back.
“Slimming World has completely changed my life but I really couldn’t have done it without the help of my husband Jonathan and my children Tegan and Oscar who also encouraged me to go.
“My family would help me meal plan for the week ahead and be all willing to try new recipes and most of them have become family favourites each week.
