PREPARATIONS are already underway for one of the biggest walking events in the area, held by Whitchurch’s very own walkers.
Whitchurch Walkers will be hosting its 11th annual Walking Festival again between Friday, May 10 and Sunday, May 12, with a varied programme of events.
A spokesman for the Walkers promised the event will deliver another year of excellent walks for people from both inside and outside of the town.

"The event will be launched on the morning of Friday, May 10 morning at the Archibald Worthington Club in Castle Hill," Whitchurch Walkers said.
“During the three days, there will be 21 walks varying greatly with something for everyone, with walks from one mile to nine miles.
“On the Friday the walks include a Rail Ramble to Wrenbury and back, and walks around several popular local routes.
“The day finishes with a Folk session in Whitchurch.
“Saturday starts off with three walks, each of which includes a canal boat ride.
“The other walks are the ‘Railway Heritage’ walk, there is a walk around Hawkstone Park with spectacular views, or for those who want something more local we are visiting three of the local Meres.
“The day ends with a ceilidh at the Brownlow Centre with folk group Jigsmith, there will be real ale, raffle and food.
