A WHITCHURCH care provider has beaten some of the biggest names in the industry to be named the best national employer.
AStar Homecare, based in Whitchurch Town Centre, took home "Best Care Employer 2024" at the National Care Awards in Birmingham on Friday.
The company, which provides ‘compassionate and professional home care services’ was described as having ‘fervent dedication’ in supporting staff by a panel of judges.

Gill Holden, who co-owns the business with her husband Adam, said they were blown away upon hearing their name announced as the winner.
"We are incredibly honoured to receive the award for Best Care Employer," said Gill.
"There were more than 1,600 people there including some of the biggest homecare providers in the UK.
“This recognition is a testament to our dedication to creating a workplace culture where our team feel valued, supported, and equipped with the resources they need to deliver exceptional care to our individuals."
According to Gill, the judges noted that AStar ‘exuded warmth and inspiration…possesses a fervent dedication to leading, nurturing, and empowering individuals’.
They added: “With an unwavering commitment to people-centric values, they ensure that every action resonates with care and consideration.
“Gill’s leadership is characterised by a genuine desire to foster growth and support, recognising that the heart of any endeavour lies the well-being and development of its people."
The National Care Awards, renowned for recognising excellence and innovation in the care sector, bestowed this esteemed honour upon AStar Homecare in acknowledgement of its 'unwavering commitment to fostering a supportive and empowering work environment for its Team of incredible carers'.
Gill added that employee welfare and professional development are at the forefront of the company's ethos and heaped praise on her staff’s hard work.
