VOLUNTEERS are being sought in Whitchurch to help transport residents to a day care centre each week.
The call has been made by Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, which is urgently seeking volunteer Passenger Assistants for its Whitchurch day centre situated at Kingsway Court every Tuesday.
Tina Mahony, a volunteer recruitment co-ordinator, said the need for volunteers is for people who are unable to make their own way to the centre.

She said: “Passenger assistants are required to travel to and from the day centre on the minibus accompanying members who unable to make their own way and assisting them from their front door to the bus and vice versa on the return journey.
“The role requires volunteers to be available one day a week in the mornings and afternoons between approximately 9am to 10am and 2pm to 3pm.
“Our day centres take place weekly and offer local older people the opportunity to socialise with others, enjoy a two-course hot meal and take part in a variety of social activities.
“This is a great opportunity to join a friendly team and to help make a difference to lonely older people in the Whitchurch area.
