A WOMAN who was rescued from a Wem property fire last week died the following day in hospital, a coroner’s court was told.
Phyllis Maureen Trevatt, who was 87 years old, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on the evening of Wednesday, March 27, following the fire at her Aston Road home.

Shropshire coroner’s officer Emma Wilson told the court on Thursday, April 4, that Mrs Trevatt, a widowed former carer, was conscious when she taken to hospital following the kitchen fire.
However, her condition deteriorated and she passed away at the hospital on Thursday, March 28.
A full inquest into her death will be held on Tuesday, July 16, in Shrewsbury.
