Whitchurch Brownies have been learning about hedgehogs as part of national hedgehog awareness week.
Part of the event they made a hedgehog house and it has been erected in a local area near their base, and they'll continue monitoring and aiding hedgehogs.
Their advice includes having 13cm holes in hedges and fences to facilitate hedgehog movement and checking long grass before mowing.
They insist on avoiding slug pellets as they pose a risk to hedgehogs.
Feeding them with dedicated hedgehog food, dog or cat food and providing water is deemed essential, while giving milk is strictly discouraged.
Littering, which could trap and harm hedgehogs, and unsecured garden ponds are other hazards to beware of.
For those interested in embarking on similar events, 6th Whitchurch Brownies are welcoming new members and volunteers, you can register at Girlguiding.org.uk.
