A Whitchurch drama group has been recognised for 100 years of treading the boards as it celebrated its latest production.

The Whitchurch Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (WAODS) have revealed the success their latest production of "The Wind in the Willows", which run from May 29 to June 1.

The adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s classic novel, was brought to life by performances and engaging musical numbers, and was met with positive feedback.

Lee Halliwell Williams and Jason Wainwright directed the production, highlighting the wide-ranging talent within the Whitchurch community.

The cast included Ollie Holding as Mole, Ann Likeman as Water Rat, David Thompson-Pearce as Badger, and Allie Turner portraying Mr. Toad.

Dave Stokes was the musical director and he featured memorable songs, with musicians.

He was supported by musicians Rob Lewis and Mandy Lewis.

After the show, an audience member remarked: "So well thought out, cast, directors, all the crew, all the work that went into it was plain to see.

"I thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you!"

All the effort poured into this production was acknowledged as the society was presented with a 100-year anniversary certificate from West Midlands Area Councillor, Andy Brown from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA).

Garry Bailey was also given the Honorary Life Membership in honour of his considerable contributions.

The society thanked Sir John Talbot's School for providing the venue for the production.

Eager to share more success, WAODS has announced its next production will be of "Annie".

Open script readings will commence on June 6 and 11 at 7.30pm at the Masonic Rooms, with auditions on June 15 at 10am, with show week marked for October 28.
